Children (well most) are very very curious and want to explore but get frustrated when they can't (at the crawling stage) and this gives them the means to do that. I guess it depends on what he's doing when the time comes. I might do it if nothing else but to protect him from his sisters. lol If he's crawling around on the floor then his chances of getting trampled by one of them is much greater.
