Danica Patrick on PEDs (I never said I was a role model)
Posted on June 3rd, 2009 by Mike under crime & punishment, phenomsDanica “Go to GoDaddy.com to see more (wink, wink)” Patrick’s moral compass is being questioned after her comments revealed her seemingly blase attitude towards performance enhancing drug use in sports.
In an interview published in this week’s SI, Dan Patrick asked Danica Patrick: Would she take performance-enhancing drugs if she would not get caught and it would lead to her winning the Indianapolis 500? To which she responded,
“Well, then it’s not cheating, is it? If nobody finds out?”
Danica also yapped about how Motorsports in general, dare I say, embodies deceit?
“It would be like finding a gray area. In motorsports, we work in gray areas a lot. You’re trying to find where the holes are in the rule book.”
Here’s hoping Danica stays off the drive-200-mph-more-angry juice and sticks to tweaking her catylitic converter to get that edge.
Danica Patrick says what every pro athlete is thinking: It’s not cheating if no one finds out (FAN IQ)

That’s been a tenet of racing for as long as there’s been racing. EVERY team looks for the gray areas. Porsche ruled LeMans for years by twisting the rule book to an inch of it’s life, Penske did the same with TransAm in the 60′s (read Mark Donohue’s bio, “The Unfair Advantage.”) Look at this year in Formula 1, the hubub over the diffusers and wings. EVERYBODY looks for the advantage, that gray area in the rules that will give them a bit more than the competition. And every driver/owner will tell you that; Danica is not being smug, she’s being honest.

[...] Steady Burn posted a neat piece. Danica Patrick, in a recent SI interview, said using performance enhancing drugs is only cheating if you get caught. [...]
