With that said and in the interest of pushing down that post about Donovan’s goal against Algeria from Friday, check out some videos from this past weekend’s Afro-Punk Festival at Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn, NY.

The bacon beer has finally arrived in Brooklyn. For those who were anxiously awaiting it’s arrival (me), hope you saved up a small fortune. Grub Street reports:

We just about lost it when we heard Brooklyn Brewery brew master Garrett Oliver was working on a beer made from Benton’s Country Smokehouse bacon, and now it’s a reality. The catch is: You’ll have to pay $350 for a taste of Reinschweinsgebot, as Oliver is calling it.

$350 to get a taste!!

The beer is part of a pairing dinner at Per Se on September 18 at 7 p.m.

That sentence is just an unfortunate sentence to read.

If you agree with me that $350 is a little steep, fret not, I have the solution…

Welcome back, The Mooks of Kickball! Part Deux, Season 2, the Challenge…

Gotta keep it local for the first update of the new series with a wildly entertaining video that profiles the Brooklyn Kickball League – a glowing example of the undeniable fact that there are few things better than being outside and drinking.

Before you view this I should also add that is indeed a German TV documentary, and there is a Beavis & Butthead reference.

The German language is so angry. I love it.

As mentioned in the past, I do play in this league (that was my girl Hillary from our squad Diddy’s White Party with the ball juggling maneuverings around the 4 min. mark). This video does not give team Never Scared’s sound system justice. It is literally a guitar amp, an ACDC converter box and an IPOD all running off of a car battery – rigged to a hand truck I think they stole from Home Depot.

Check back next week when I’ll post about this weekend’s International Kickball Invitational happening on Saturday in BK. (Hopefully, it won’t be totally overshadowed by The Cardboard Tube Fighting Tournament)

Gawker gets the nod for this (yeah, right, cause they need my support) about a brawl that broke out on Sunday during the Brooklyn Kickball League’s final night of playoffs – Brooklyn Kickball Brawl: “Brother Fighting Against Brother”

This is the league we played in this year (knocked out in the first round of World Cup-style playoffs, unceremoniously). And I was there for this fiasco!

Ok, I was in the bar. But rumor was a full beer was heaved at someone – which is surprising with this crowd, because that’s really more of a meathead move.

Disappointing way for the season to end. This is the same kickball league that made Jimmy Traina’s SI.com Hot Clicks for hosting an International Tournament! (their fourth annual, in fact). Cooler heads did end up prevailing and according to BrooklynKickball.com the finals are rescheduled for next week.

But seriously, what sort of retaliation wouldn’t be justified for having a full beer hurled at you?Flamethrower?

MGMT went from covering This Must Be the Place at Zonker Harris (??) Day, to this…

It’s been an upwardly mobile few years for MGMT. It’d be irresponsible not to also embed girls in bikinis getting their slip n’ slide on, which also happened at the McCarren Park pool yesterday.

…Here they are doing Invisible Touch back in their Wesleyan days too. (Collins? Hell yeah)

Is bullfighting even legal in New York!? I thought, as we made our way out to this spectacle. It was out by the Brooklyn Bridge; I presumed at some abandoned warehouse where I would be frisked for weapons and contraband on the way in. Maybe there would be reckless gambling involved!

Turns out there were no bulls. No midgets! The event was actually a book release party at a harmless bookstore (read: no abandoned warehouse, no gambling whatsoever). Thankfully, the free tequila was not a myth, and we drank that liquid opium in the children’s section and read Where The Wild Things Are.

The party was for the release of Enanitos Toreros by Livia Corona. She spent almost a decade living in Mexico at a dwarf colony, the residents of which are huge bullfighting enthusiasts, see for yourself:
